Western Treatment Plant

About Project

Once known as the Werribee Farm, the Western Treatment Plant has played a vital role in the treatment of Melbourne’s sewage since 1898.

The section of works at the WTP was the Blower Building which was an integral component of the $120m Western Treatment Plant Capacity Increase – Phase Two Project.

Our package included the supply and installation of formwork as well as the installation of reinforcement and concrete. Due to the nature of the building, there was a very high tolerance on the flatness of the concrete slab and on the hold down bolts and our client was exceptionally pleased with the quality of our work.

Balmain & Co. engaged Shane Connaughton to undertake the FRP for the Blower Building and Transformer Slab at the Western Treatment Plant. This was a project that had tight tolerances and required a high level of attention to detail.

The project was completed on program and we were extremely happy with the quality of work as well as with the professionalism and conduct of Shane’s crew onsite.

We look forward to working with Shane in the future and would have no hesitation in recommending them to other builders for their FRP packages.
